In between securing performances from Dennis Ferrer to Spirit Catcher to Groove Armada's Tom Findlay, Ultragroove have been busying themselves cooking up some new house guests. This month Jimpster comes to town to rock the 'Groove's crowd and bring the roof down with his own tasty 4/4 beats. The Freerange Records boss (aka Jamie Odell/Audiomontage) has been running the label for over ten years, releasing productions that satisfy the demands of house, electronica, and downtempo fans alike. His most recent release under the Jimpster name, the Amour LP (2006), crashed in at number 17 in IDJ's charts, while his previous output includes the acclaimed Messages From The Hub LP, and over 50 remixes for other artists including Coldcut, Lamb and Switch. His music draws on soulful electronic elements crafted into soundscapes and dancefloor hits, and have inspired kind words from the likes of Rob Da Bank, who claimed he was going to 'cane' Jimpster's releases on his radio show. Support sets come from the Ultragroove residents, Gareth Somerville, Wolfjazz and Beefy. [Struan Otter]
