James Holden @ After Dark, Stereo, Glasgow, 20 Sep

Article by Scott Ramage | 08 Sep 2008

If minimal is the sound of the moment, then James Holden is surely a leading figure of the times. From acclaimed mix albums such as his instalment in the At The Controls series, to his solo artist album The Idiots Are Winning released on his own Border Community label, Holden’s progressive, trance-influenced style has won him many plaudits. With a mix of mainstream appeal and emotional warmth that’s led to commissioned remixes of Britney Spears and Madonna, coupled with respect and regard from the dance community - Josh Gabriel of Gabriel & Dresden has described Holden as a “modern genius” - it’s clear why After Dark have landed themselves such a major figure. After Dark is a venture between the people behind Huntley’s And Palmer’s Audio Club and Wrong Island, and looks set to become one of Glasgow’s leading club events.
