Hudson Mohawke and Kode 9 @ Stereo, 8 May

Article by Rosie Davies | 20 Apr 2009

Music/art/party instigators LuckyMe can't decide who should play the longest: Kode 9, or Hudson Mohawke. It's a tough choice. Kode 9, brains behind the HyperDub label, is renowned for the sort of intelligent, creative DJing that makes you want to dance and clap at the same time, flawlessly blending garage, dub, house and hip-hop in that distinctive HyperDub style which marks its main artists: Ikonika, Joker, and Darkstyle. HudMo, surely the deserved recipient of some very real hype over the past year, stormed the Subclub only last month with a set which, according to long-standing hip-hop DJ Pro Vinylist Karim, will "reshape the way everything is done from now on." Cutting on two turntables whilst playing live is nothing for the DMC finalist-cum-producer, but it's something every hip-hop, dubstep and quality r'n'b fan needs to see live. Check out this double bill while you can; it's unlikely to happen again.
