Catering to all forms of dancing, Luna opens in Edinburgh on the site of Club Ego, offering pole and ballroom classes as well as hosting Volume and the slightly less restrained Nuklear Puppy. As for new nights, check out John Hutchison and Gareth Sommerville's new baby, Rise (10pm-3am, £2/£4), every Sunday at the Opal Lounge, where they'll be dropping big club classics and funky house.

Another year, another birthday party for Numbers, with a two-part party taking in the Subby on 4 Jul (11pm - 3am, girls free / boys £5) and the infamous Club 69 on 12 Jul (11pm-3am, £10, buses run from Macsorleys). Jackmaster, Rustie, Goodhand and all the rest will be providing the beats, and there's a host of other reasons to get down for this. Get on the MySpace for full details. Celebrating nothing other than it's the summer, Noodle have netted Jamie Jones for their show on 18 Jul (The Admiral, Glasgow, 11pm-3am, £8) and with releases on Cocoon, Get Physical, Poker Flat and damn near everyone else, this is well worth checking out.

Glasgow's The Ivy prove that you can rock out in a pocket-sized venue in July, with Miso bringing both Maurizio and Angela Parker into a space the size of your bedroom (12 and 29 Jul, 8pm-12pm, £varies).

And if you just have to get out the city, get to Optimo's old-fashioned barndance hoedown on 4 Jul, out in the badlands of Fife. Tickets are available from Monorail, Ripping etc (£25) and entitle you to buck with broncos, chow down barbeque and get messy to some cracking tunes. Love it. [Liam Arnold]
