Loose Joints + Sebastian Swarm & Sweesh @ The Berkeley Suite, 8 July

Friday sees The Berkeley Suite welcome one of Glasgow's Lunacy after-party residents, Sebastian Swarm, for a night of lo-fi synth vibes. With his recent release from the Italian record label Land Of Dance storming up the acid charts, this is a weekend party starter you won't want to miss.

Along with the Loose Joints DJs, Swarm will be joined by Leon Christie, resident for seminal Edinburgh club night Lezure, and as The Berkeley Suite themselves dryly put it, 'having provided warm ups for Maurice Fulton, Serge and DJ Deeon's Scottish debut, he should be at least half-decent.'

We Should Hang Out More with Jacques Renault @ La Cheetah Club, 9 July

After rubbing shoulders with the likes of Kerri Chandler, Nightmares On Wax, Maribou State and more at this week's Electric Elephant festival in Croatia, Jacques Renault trades Adriatic climes for the recalcitrant Scottish summer when he heads up La Cheetah this Saturday.

The New York-based DJ and producer has held residencies at New York's famed Happy Endings, APT, Tribeca Grand and 205 Club, and has played a host of top-class venues including Tokyo's Womb, London's Fabric and Berlin's Panorama Bar. In addition to his talents behind the decks, in 2009 Renault founded the influential record label and club night LET'S PLAY HOUSE, which since its inception has released tracks from some of America's best underground artists.

Subculture presents Marquis Hawkes @ Sub Club, 9 July

With his LP Social Housing garnering favourable reviews following its release last month, there's no better time to catch the enigmatic rising talent that is Marquis Hawkes.

The British-born, Berlin based Hawkes grew up on a council estate in London, and his debut expands upon the same thematic pursuits of 2012's Dixon Avenue Basement Jams EP Cabrini Green, incorporating musings on the influence of public housing with old school Chicago beats. Renowned for his ability to craft vintage-inspired productions that translate into vibrant dancefloor jams, Hawkes celebrates his album launch at Sub Club with support from a yet-to-be-revealed special guest.

Festival Watch

At T in the Park, this year’s Slam Tent lineup is one of the strongest to date, with techno figureheads Len Faki, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin sure to be drawcards. Also taking to the tent at Strathallan are unique German duo Pan-Pot, kooky dance magic guru Seth Troxler, plus local talents Petrichor and Silicone Soul.

With its rooftop terrace proving an excellent vantage point for observing last year’s T In The Park frivolity, returning party hub The Tennent’s Arms will host DJs handpicked by renowned taste makers Sub Club. Think UK dance figurehead Greg Wilson, the aforementioned Marquis Hawkes and disco champions Horse Meat Disco. In addition, there's Harri, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Spencer, Hammer, Sensu, Telford, i AM, Rebecca Vasmant, Sunday Circus, and Big Foot's Tea Party spinning tunes across the weekend.

Coming Up

We recommend you bag tickets now for the return of last year's inaugural Groove Festival, which will transform Loch Ness into 'Scotland's biggest nightclub under the stars' on Saturday 20 August. The one-dayer boats an exciting line-up of hot acts including Duke Dumont, Leftfield, Optimo, Leon Vynehall, Moxie and more - and you can take your tent, too.
