Furburger @ GHQ, Edinburgh, 12 Sep

Article by Scott Ramage | 28 Aug 2008

What’s in a name? Everything, according to the folk behind GHQ’s lesbian night Furburger. The night is aimed at “girls who like girls who like music,” and is as loud, brash and obvious as the name suggests. Since a re-launch in June, the night has become popular with a young, hip crowd with its melee of musical styles, ranging from electro and hip-hop to classic pop, rock and indie, provided by DJs Boy Toy, Debi T, The Funki Diva and Dejaybird. With a focus on the music and the main target being women rather than men, Furburger is definitely a strong alternative to the saturated mainstream gay scene. Although aimed at a girly crowd, you're allowed to bring a man with you - all that they ask is that you “wear good shoes and bring beautiful people”; and if everyone does, it’s certainly going to be a winner.
