Family Tree @ Shaws Restaurant, Edinburgh, starting July 2nd

He'll be happy so long as ""the place is full of pretty girls and at least ten people have a good time.""

Club veteran Yogi Haughton is back with his latest project, Family Tree, a series of weekly Sunday BBQs at Shaws Restaurant off the Royal Mile. The gourmet food (calamari anyone?) promises to be a real treat and on the first Sunday of every month Yogi plans to put on an extra special shindig and stay open until 3am with music from various 'family members', including Neil Bartley (AfterDark), Nick Yuill (Solescience) and Dennis Probert (Audio Deluxe). For the first of these late night Sunday socials starting July 2nd, the 'family' will be joined by Nightmares on Wax founding member Kevin 'Boy Wonder' Harper. "The venue is perfect", gushes Haughton as he leads the way through the two rooms which will house the cream of the capital's DJ'ing talent and onto the sunny patio where he plans to spend the summer. Yogi wants these parties to represent the whole spectrum of quality house music, not just his beloved Northern Soul and R'n'B. It's an open door music policy with something for everybody, and Haughton aims to "properly represent the history of house" at each Family Tree event. He admits that he's aiming high but Yogi says that he'll be happy so long as "the place is full of pretty girls and at least ten people have a good time." Each first Sunday of the month there will be one large BBQ (July 2nd and August 6th) in two rooms and the garden, and other weekends are limited to the patio and top floor. [Murray Ainslie]
