Disorder Edinburgh 3rd Anniversary @ The Mash House, 8 July

Scottish dance music champions Disorder Club Edinburgh celebrate three years of techno parties from some of the best local artists in Edinburgh, as well as international names such as David Meiser and Axel Karakasis. Dimebag and Elhoi VG go back to back to warm up the dance floor, then Dari J will take the reins with a special closing set. Head on out and support your local techno scene!

Melting Pot @ Sneaky Pete's, 8 July

Now in its 14th year, Melting Pot is one of the longest running clubs in the UK and has given such notables as Danny Krivit, Joaquin “Joe” Claussell, Francois K, and Greg Wilson a platform to play their enticing mixes of techno, disco, funk, house and soul. This Friday night, reliable Melting Pot residents Andrew Pirie and Simon Cordiner return for the latest night in their bi-monthly residency at Sneaky's.

Pirie, who headed up a four year residency at the hugely successful Traxx at the Soundhaus, has been involved with Melting Pot since its inception in 2001, while Cordiner has been a staple of the Glasgow DJ scene for years and has performed guest sets at festivals such as Rockness and T in the Park, as well as leading clubs in Edinburgh, Dundee, and London.

Melting Pot put together a two-hour mix ahead of their first Sneaky's night; give it a listen in the Mixcloud player below for a taste of what's in store.

Jackhammer presents Dave Clarke @ The Caves, 9 July

Also this Saturday, there’s a rare opportunity to catch The Baron of Techno himself, aka the legendarily gruff Dave Clarke. Clarke brings a wealth of experience garnered over his two-decades plus career, and the Brighton-born, Amsterdam-based has always been a forward thinker (he was the first techno artist to release an online-only single, back in 2000). We’re sure he’s still got a few surprises up his sleeve.

Festival Watch

At T in the Park, this year’s Slam Tent lineup is one of the strongest to date, with techno figureheads Len Faki, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin sure to be drawcards. Also taking to the tent at Strathallan are unique German duo Pan-Pot, kooky dance magic guru Seth Troxler, plus local talents Petrichor and Silicone Soul.

With its rooftop terrace proving an excellent vantage point for observing last year’s T In The Park frivolity, returning party hub The Tennent’s Arms will host DJs handpicked by renowned taste makers Sub Club. Think UK dance figurehead Greg Wilson, Marquis Hawkes and disco champions Horse Meat Disco. In addition, there's Harri, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Spencer, Hammer, Sensu, Telford, i AM, Rebecca Vasmant, Sunday Circus, and Big Foot's Tea Party spinning tunes across the weekend.

Coming Up

We recommend you bag tickets now for the return of last year's inaugural Groove Festival, which will transform Loch Ness into 'Scotland's biggest nightclub under the stars' on Saturday 20 August. The one-dayer boats an exciting line-up of hot acts including Duke Dumont, LeftfieldOptimoLeon VynehallMoxie and more - and you can take your tent, too.
