FLY Open Air Festival @ Ross Band Stand, Princes St Gardens, Sat 24 Sep

In a first for the capital, Edinburgh party outfit FLY have curated an inner city, open air, one-day festival, at one of the most iconic locations in the world – the foot of Edinburgh Castle. The killer line-up features celebrated Berlin-based duo Booka Shade, as well as Motor City Drum Ensemble, Mr G, and Detroit Swindle (who recently chatted to us about their huge international tour).

There's also high calibre local representation in FLY residents Laurence Nolan & Jonny Herd, Glasgow's Harri & Domenic and Edinburgh’s own Theo Kottis (who put together an outstanding collection of music for us ahead of the event). Kottis will also play the after-party hosted in a new warehouse location underneath Liquid Room, with a surprise special guest to be revealed on the night.

Karnival feat. Derrick Carter @ La Belle Angele, Sat 24 Sep

Back in the country after his stomping five-hour epic at Subbie back in July, Chicago house legend Derrick Carter brings his celebrated live skills to La Belle this Saturday. If you're yet to see the somewhat media-shy Carter in action, mark this as an opportunity to tick one of the masters of the craft off your list. Further supports to be announced.

Soulsville @ The Bongo Club, Sat 24 Sep

Saturday continues to offer up the goods with this weekend's edition of Soulsville. Established in 2010, this is Edinburgh’s shot of deep rhythms and rugged grooves. Residents Cameron Mason and Calum Evans will be spinning the finest cuts of funk, latin rhythms and rarities well into early hours.

Fractal Club Launch Party with Special Guest, Sat 22 Oct

With both the special guest and the venue to be announced on the day, Fractal Club certainly like to keep us guessing. Launching for the very first time on 22 October, the secret event will be limited in capacity to just 100 lucky dancers.

For the occasion, the party outfit have invited a guest DJ who will be making their debut appearance in the capital. Need some more clues? "Born in Chile, schooled in New York, and residing in Berlin - the Mystery Jock certainly knows how to make a dance floor go off". In addition, £1.50 from every ticket sold will go to the Joshua Nolan Foundation. Best purchase a ticket and see what all the fuss is about. (£20, tickets here).

Nightvison Series 5 (various dates and venues)

Nightvision has returned to the capital this autumn with arguably the most exciting series to date. With more than 13 dates across The Liquid Room and The Warehouse, La Belle Angele and The Caves, the run of house, techno and bass beats kicked off with last week's launch party featuring the incomparable Groove Armada, and will take us all the way through to a grand finale on Hogmanay (lineup TBA).

Picks of the series include Musika's upcoming party featuring John Digweed, Agoria, Rebekah & Harvey McKay (Sat 8 Oct, £20 +bf), a Halloween spook fest led by German duo Pan-Pot at La Belle on Friday 28 October, and further afield, The Sound Of Detroit at The Liquid Room with Robert Hood, DJ Deep and Stephen Brown (Sat 10 Dec, £17.50 +bf).
