Sulta Sheik Down Festival Special with Denis Sulta & Ryan Martin @ Cabaret Voltaire, Fri 19 Aug

Festival fever continues in the capital, and so does Denis Sulta's relentless touring schedule. Sulta, aka Hector Barbour, invites record shop pal Ryan Martin of All Caps to play Fly Club's SULTA SHEIKH DOWN Festival Special, with a 5am license to boot.

Musika presents Bicep & Jasper James @ The Liquid Room, Sat 20 Aug

This unmissable Saturday-night extravaganza boasts none other than duo-of-the-moment Bicep, as London-based Andy Ferguson and Matt McBriar make a stop in Edinburgh as part of an expansive summer tour. Local talent Jasper James also makes a welcome appearance, with further support from the likes of Hammer, Izzy Demzky, Laurie Neil and Jamie McKenzie fleshing out that glorious 5am close.

Pftp presents Prosumer & Nightwave @ The Mash House, Sun 21 Aug

If the lure of former Panorama Bar resident Prosumer (along with Nightwave, Ste Roberts and more) isn't enough to make you continue to bleed your wallet dry this summer, don't forget that this Sunday-night show is also a fundraiser for a very worthy cause. The Joshua Nolan Foundation raises money to help fund counselling sessions for people who have been identified as ‘at risk’ of suicide, and as well as hosting a fantastic night of top tunes, all profits from the event will be donated to this essential Scottish charity.

In another heavy blow for the UK's clubbing scene, iconic London spot Fabric has closed indefinitely, following two drug-related deaths at the venue in recent weeks.

A statement posted on the club’s website on Thursday said: “For the past two years Fabric has operated without incident but tragically in the past nine weeks two 18-year-old boys have died as a consequence of drug overdoses.

“In order to understand how this has happened we have agreed with the police and other agencies to suspend our operation whilst we investigate. The club will therefore be closed this weekend.”
