Don't-miss parties this week:

Thu 30 Jun

Pica-Sounds with Felix Hall
Common, 6pm, free

That stylish lot from Oi Polloi continue their residency at top-knot (sorry top-notch) drinking hole Common with Felix Hall (Trilogy Tapes) on the decks, dishing up the best in digi-dancehall and reggae. There's no better way to grease yer wheels for the weekend.

Fri 1 Jul

HomoElectric presents BabyHomo
Mantra Warehouse, 10pm, £7

Sweat off the EU Ref results with Will Tramp!, Jamie Bull and Gina Breeze, as cult club HomoElectric goes intimate for a one-room spin-off in Ancoats' most atmospheric warehouse. It's a smaller-capacity space than usual so if you want a ticket or three, get a shift on would you?

Project13: Ilian Tape showcase
with Andrea, Skee Mask, Stenny & DjRUM
Hidden, 11pm, £10

The Zenker bros' unshakeable label Ilian Tape presents a good chunk of its roster at Hidden, and if you want double the goodness (or just can't make the party proper) there's an in-store at Eastern Bloc beforehand with Andrea, Skee Mask, Stenny and DjRUM all present, plus Means&3rd (4-10pm, free).

Zutekh presents Cassy
Soup Kitchen, 11pm, £12.50

Cassy has held long residencies at some of the world's best clubs, including Panorama Bar and Trouw, but 2016 heralds her debut release as an artist in the form of LP Donna. See her at Soup with her singular fusion of soul, techno and exploratory sounds.

Sat 2 Jul

Covert Carnival
Mantra Warehouse, 7pm, £3/£5

Promising stilt-walkers, fire breathers, clowns and inflatables, Mantra regulars Covert have not only got several of your deepest phobias covered this weekend but are also planning a party to end all parties. Festivities start in the courtyard with full carnival vibes before achieving elevation in the loft and warehouse.

Fac51 The Haçienda
with Derrick May, A Guy Called Gerald, Justin Robertson & Jon DaSilva
Albert Hall, 10pm, £22.50/£25

Big guns all at Albert Hall this Saturday, with Detroit techno legend Derrick May joined by Manc originator A Guy Called Gerald, acid house adventurer Jon DaSilva and trusty seacaptain Justin Robertson. It's almost too much tbh.

High Hoops 1st Birthday
with Honey Dijon, Delta Funktionen, O'Flynn & more
Islington Mill, 23 Jul, 4pm, £8-£18

Lots of great nights celebrating their first birthday this summer it seems; tonight's the turn of High Hoops, with Chicagoan vinyl head (and Derrick Carter protégé) Honey Dijon and the Four Tet-friendly O'Flynn leading proceedings at the Mill 'til 2am. Dutch selector Delta Funktionen heads the afterparty at the nearby White Hotel (2am-8am).

Inside Out 1st Birthday with Beautiful Swimmers
Soup Kitchen, 29 Jul, 11pm, £10

There's a lotta love in Manc for dynamic duo Beautiful Swimmers, with past parties for Wet Play and HiKu having helped spread the word. Nowt better to celebrate Inside Out's first year than their trademark fruit punch – all crushed synths and beachy house.

Moving Metals
with Beatrice Dillon, Sean Canty & Felix Hall
Soup Kitchen, 30 Jul, 11pm, £5

Felix Hall returns for a second go-around this month, this time flanking aural explorer and Karen Gwyer collaborator Beatrice Dillon, plus Demdike Stare's Sean Canty. Five quid to tunnel pretty far deep into the abyss; usually that only takes you to Withington.

Festival watch

Tickets are low for Farr Festival (Hertfordshire, 14-16 Jul), with Francis Inferno Orchestra, Helena Hauff, Moomin and many more. Stay updated with the fest's Facebook.

Mind those ticket levels for bluedot festival (Jodrell Bank, 22-24 Jul), too: Ben UFO, George Fitzgerald and Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve all doing their thing at a space observatory. We know right?!
