Don't miss parties this week...

Daniel Avery drops in to Eastern Bloc record shop on Friday 16th for a DJ Kicks set between 8-9pm, don't miss! He's sandwiched between reliable residents Kerrie and Means&3rd. On Saturday 17th they've got Annabel Fraser and Acid House Death Squad. Doors open from 6pm both nights, free.

Hidden Xmas Ting @ Hidden, 16 Dec

It wouldn't be Christmas without a good brass band, so for their Xmas bash Hidden have sourced one from the country's brass-band mecca, Sheffield. With eight horns, two percussionists, a scratch DJ and MC, the steel city's Renegade Brass Band will be delivering the very opposite of a silent night – joined by KOG & The Zongo Brigade, Banana Hill's Cervo and Martin from Loose Cuts. Ting and indeed tong merrily on high. From 10pm, £12

Rave the Roof: Mumdance, Powell, Not Waving, Russell Haswell @ Islington Mill, 16 Dec

A frankly amazing line-up all in aid of raising money for Islington Mill's #raisetheroof fund. In their words: 'Some of XL, Diagonal, Ecstatic and The Death of Rave's boldest rave cadets in 2016 are playing for basic rations and instead donating the ticket and door takings to support the Mill, coz they all love it nearly as much as we do.' From 10pm, £13

Lost Control Warehouse Rave with Bam Bam @ The White Hotel, Salford, 17 Dec

Acid house legend Bam Bam, aka Chris Westbrook, makes his Manchester debut with support from the Lost Control for a Christmas knees-up. An acidy one. From 10pm, £9.09

Project 13 & Annex: Helena Hauff @ Hidden, 20 Jan

No one does heavy like Project 13, who team up with Annex Agency to present Hamburg's mistress of experimental EBM/leftfield electronics, Helena Hauff. She's joined by Minimal Wave Records figurehead Veronica Vasicka, NTS Radio regular and dredger of electronic sludge Lee Gamble playing back to back with L.I.E.S. label founder Ron Morelli, and Poland's club Radar originator Olivia. Punishing in the best possible way. From 10pm, £18
