Don't-miss club nights this week

Matthew Herbert @ Distrikt, 16 Dec

Continuing their unbeatable series of free parties headed up by significant names, Distrikt bring us a real treat this pre-Christmas week: an appearance from sonic eccentrist Matthew Herbert, who you may remember for his project charting the life and death of a pig, or his album made with sounds generated by manipulating human hair, skin and internal organs, or his recording of 3500 people biting into an apple at once. In Distrikt's words: "There simply isn't any other word for Matthew Herbert other than genius." He's supported by Butter Side Up's Hamish Cole and Neequaye. From 9pm, free

If you've been following the London club's licensing problems with concern over the past year, why not show some support up the M1? From 11pm, £8
