If you want to get a little more bang for your buck and help out a super charity while you're at it, check out the two-floored extravaganza, Cause It on the 22nd. For just £5, eight local DJs and special guest techno-fiddler, Dean Rodell (live - Subdivision/Austria), will keep you entertained with a mix of techno building into hardcore on the main floor, and breaks twisting into d&b upstairs. The charity night is in aid of St Columba's Hospice, an organisation who help individuals through the final stages of terminal illness. Jellybaby, the organiser and co-promoter of Edinburgh techno club, Jak-N, is putting on the night to raise money for the charity after they helped a family member through the later stages of cancer. On the main floor will be Graeme Marshall going b2b with The Physicist (Synthetic), Sekonz and Fuk-Nut (Jak-N), and headliner Dean Rodell playing live. Underground techno scene vet, Rodell, began loop-based production in 2000 after several years playing the circuit, resulting in numerous releases on well-known labels, such as Compound, Planet Rhythm and Pounding Grooves. Now the proud owner of three labels (UnkownForces/DrumWorks/Subversion), Rodell is coming back to Edinburgh to blow the speakers into next year. Upstairs is Luka (Toaster), Meldrum (Xplicit), Budan (Tarzan/Digital Militia), and ENO (Xplicit). Other bonuses on the night include performance art; burlesque, freestyle/break dancers, fire eaters, face painting, body art, and visuals, with more to be announced. [Struan Otter]
