Ssshhh! You're not supposed to know about this. This is the latest in the seemingly sporadic, venue-non-specific and word-of-mouth promoted sister nights of Optimo (Espacio). It was originally organised to push the envelope on types of 4/4 music that Optimo acts as counterbalance to, but the guest appearance on this occasion is one that could easily feature on the bill of either night. Black Devil (Disco Club) are the pioneers of electro-pop and Italo Disco sounds that everyone had forgotten about, until being unearthed and re-released by Rephlex in 2006. It was so ahead of its time that many chins were stroked over the suspension of a hoax analogue pop pastiche at the hands of label boss Luke Vibert. The surviving member comes to claim ownership of his creation in a rare and intimate appearance. But keep it under your hat; we don't want the wrong sort showing up. [Jack McFarlane]
