Musika returns for its second night in our capital showcasing the Azuli World Tour with Kurd Maverick aka Gian. As a young, talented multi-instrumentalist equipped with a fine musical ear, Gian soon found himself being drawn to all genres of electronic dance music and over the years finally found his niche in house music. He began to work relentlessly on his sets but he longed for more, and so began making his own creations by mixing up some of clubland's biggest tracks with the aid of different effect devices and continuous loops. And it seems that all his hard work has paid off. He first tested out his tunes at the Noh Club in Dusseldorf and they were well received by the German crowd - soon further bookings followed from some of the most popular clubs in the country. Not long after his string of successes on the clubbing circuit, Gian received an offer from the Bungalow Club to become a resident. His debut single Get Up was released in 2002, and was churned out by everyone from Timo Maas to Judge Jules. It was not until 2006 however that Kurd Maverick really made a name for himself with his mammoth revision of D.O.N.S. Pump Up The Jam, as well as being signed to Ministry throughout the world. Progression resident DJs Derek Martin and Gav Grant will be joining him on the night, which promises to be a stormer. [Natalie Doyle]
