The approach to Henry's Cellar Bar can be less than attractive due to the sorry state (and smell) of nearby Lothian Road, but once ushered into the tiny cave of delights beneath the Festival Tavern, you will see why it was worth the trip down to the underground. A venue more used to jazz and indie band nights than electronic mayhem, Henry's reputation is being slowly transformed by the marvellous Boogaloo Bothy crew.

With previous live sets from The Joe Acheson Quartet, B-Burg, and most recently the Tokyo Blu DJs, you never know quite what you're going to get – live funk from the marvellous house band, improvised turntable madness that could span anything from hip-hop to electro to far-out disco, or as in the case of their anticipated November gig, a live set of dubbed-out electronica from Aberdeen's underground legend Architeq.

This is his second visit to the Bothy – last time out he had the tiny venue seriously rocking, with the heavy edge to his "fat analogue" sound getting the crowd and the venue shaking to their foundations. At only a fiver, Boogaloo Bothy is a standout example of a small night showcasing new and diverse talent with small regard for profit. Their reputation continues to grow quietly, and their nights go off noisily – the perfect balance.
