Actress (live) @ Noise Pollution, 12 Dec

Article by Colin Chapman | 27 Nov 2009

Continuing to showcase live performances from artists across the techno spectrum rather than relying purely on DJs, this month’s Noise Pollution sees London-based producer Darren ‘Actress’ Cunningham invited to flex his production skills.

Releasing acclaimed debut album ‘Hazyville’ on his own Werk Discs label last year (an imprint previously responsible for cutting-edge output from the likes of Lukid, Disrupt and Zomby), his sound offers a grainy, monochromed take on the Detroit techno blueprint, while also touching upon electro and myriad bass-heavy styles.

He was recently signed to the Honest Jon's label (a collaboration between Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Honest Jon's record shop in London), and his second long-player is likely to drop next year.

Joining Pollution resident Sean Matthews at the decks will be Glasgow producer Ruaridh Law, aka The Village Orchestra, who was responsible for this year’s digital-only album, ‘The Dark Is Rising’. Expect a set from the Numbers DJ which could take in anything from dubstep to acid house, rave to two-step and beyond.
