Article by News Team | 19 Feb 2015

The line-up has been confirmed for this month’s Writers Return event at Summerhall in Edinburgh, with Alan Bissett and Anne Donovan among those set to appear.

The Writers Return series, organised by the British Council, tours the UK with writers telling their tales from trips around the world. Alongside playwright Bissett and novelist Donovan, the event will also feature stories from poets Ryan Van Winkle and William Letford. Writers Return takes place at Summerhall on 26 Feb from 6:30pm – free tickets can be booked here.

In other news, entries are now open for the second annual Novella Award. The award offers a cash prize of £1,000 with the winning novella published by Sandstone Press, winners of the Publisher of the Year award at last year’s Saltire Literary Awards. Booker Prize nominee Alison Moore will judge the entries.

The Novella Award – organised by Sandstone, Manchester Metropolitan University, Liverpool John Moores University, Time To Read and the National Association of Writers in Education – is open to any unpublished novella (between 20,000 and 40,000 words). Entries close on 5 Jun – get more information at The Novella Award website.
