Hot Off the Comics Press: Picks of the week 29 June

With Spider-Man hogging the headlines at the moment, it is perhaps fitting that he should be included in this week's pull list. And although The Amazing Spider-Man #664 is on shelves, it is Peter Parker's new found home as a member of the Future Foundation in FF #5 that is truly worth reading. Written by Johnathan Hickman and with art by Mark Bagley, FF is an astute and enthralling series that started fast out of the blocks with twists and turns, and shows no signs of slowing down. Highly recommended.

So back to the DC conundrum? All continuity to be reset, where do you find the interest? Well, two characters will survive the continuity wars and continue their ongoing adventures (despite being renumber to number #1). Batman, as the pinnacle of DC, is one and the other will be the Green Lantern Corps. Despite the recent live action film being a horrendous misfire, the on-going series have maintained success. With the 'War of the Green Lanterns' over, pick up Green Lantern Emerald Warriors #11 to observe the aftermath.

This week's indie alternatives see two repeat undead offenders that should be on everyone's pull list by now. Scott Snyder's sublime American Vampire #16 and Robert Kirkman's well-worth-all-the-hype The Walking Dead #86. These ongoing series are two of the most consistently superior thrillers on shelves today – miss them and miss out.
