Comic Book Guy: Bad Press Ltd is No More

After a rapid fire turn of events, Bad Press Ltd has sadly now closed its doors. As its now kaput website says, “Due to unforeseen and adverse circumstances” the publishers of Wasted, Bad Press Ltd are closing down. They went on to pay thanks to their “writers, artists, colourists and letterers; to all of our customers, supporters, distributors and advertisers; and to all who only came to browse.”

When The Skinny caught up with artist Gibson Quarter, there was genuine sadness in the air. “It's a shame, as it was starting to catch on and I understood that the last few issues did well. They were a great bunch of guys to work with. Top notch folks all of them.” But all is not lost as the artist held hope for a revival of some of the characters featured within Wasted's pages: “We retain the copyrights and all trademarks to take our strips elsewhere, so hopefully [Quarter drawn strip] Johnny K will have another home soon.”

Artist Jon Haward also posted an announcement on his website, as his own comic strip Tales of The Buddha has now lost its home. Haward stated that “this means Tales of the Buddha before he got Enlightened now needs to find a new publisher for the collected edition.” Although there is always the option of selling through other publishers, the future of these characters remains uncertain.

Although Bad Press Ltd was created by Scottish comic book legend Alan Grant, the man who has written for Marvel and DC couldn't keep the Glasgow company afloat. As news was breaking of digital editions of Wasted soon to become available, time will tell to see if any of these stories resurface.
