COM TRUISE REMIXES EVERYTHING EVERYTHING
After a high-profile remix for Scotland's own The Twilight Sad, Com Truise delivers another re-rub of a high profile indie band, as he takes on a track from Everything Everything's forthcoming album Arc, due out on 14 Jan. He transforms the Manchester-based five piece's exuberant, falsetto-led track Kemosabe into a slice of retro-futuristic, chopped and glitched synth-pop. Listen below. The remix is the b-side of the Kemosabe single, out 6 Jan. Read our recent interview with Com Truise here.

12-12-12 CONCERT ALBUM TO BE RELEASED
The 12-12-12 concert took place this week in New York, as a benefit for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Featuring performances from The Rolling Stones, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, and perhaps most notably, Paul McCartney, who played a new song with former Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. The concert is to be released as an album by Columbia Records, and can now be pre-ordered from the iTunes store. Contrary to earlier reports, the performance didn't quite constitute a 'Nirvana reunion' in a conventional sense - although Macca does make a fairly good fist of his attempt to reproduce a Kurt Cobain-like grunge howl on the track he performed with the band, entitled Cut Me Some Slack.

EMINEM TO HEADLINE LEEDS & READING FESTIVALS
As the end of 2012 approaches, lineups are being confirmed for next summer's festivals, with the latest addition being the announcement of the 2013 Leeds and Reading festivals. The events will be headlined by none other than The Real Slim Shady himself, Marshall Mathers III, otherwise known as Eminem. Tickets are already on sale, so move fast if you want to catch Eminem live in his first UK shows since 2011.

WATCH THE NEW MAN OF STEEL TRAILER
When the original Man Of Steel trailer aired, there was one question on everyone's lips - 'Why is Superman on a fishing boat?' The new trailer, released this week, doesn't answer that question - but it does give us a glimpse into the story, mechanics and feel of the new movie. We get a flash of 'Rowdy' Russell Crowe as Jor-El; we get hints of how the story will progress, with Supes facing off against a world that isn't ready for a man who can fly; and we get some shots of Big Blue in action as he takes off from his Arctic fortress for a wee bit of a zoom about the place. It's a much more convincing taster for the movie, although it remains to be seen whether producer Chris Nolan and director Zack Snyder can pull off the same dark, realistic tone as the Dark Knight movies in a story about a walking US flag with unlimited super-powers. Decide for yourself, watch the trailer below.

ADAM CURTIS SPEAKS TO VICE
Documentary film-maker, archivist and social historian Adam Curtis gave a rare interview to Vice Magazine this week. The film-maker's ground-breaking documentaries for the BBC have included The Power of Nightmares, about the roots of the War on Terror, The Century of the Self, which explored the influence of psychoanalytic theory on the culture of individualism, and most recently, All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace, a treatise on the failure of technology to produce utopia. Curtis, who has been championed by the likes of Charlie Brooker, uses artful cutting, juxtaposition and soundtracking to create films with powerful, lucid arguments about the modern condition, revealing often-ignored truths about the way we live today, and how we got to this point.

In the interview with Vice, Curtis talks revealingly about his views on the failure of news outlets to properly describe the modern world. "I see these waves of people going into offices and I know they’re going to spend their time in front of their computers being told, 'If you like this then you’ll like that,' and being managed by all these systems," Curtis tells Vice. "No one’s really found a way of describing that world to those people. And that’s what journalism should be doing." He also explains why he thinks the current generation's outlook is "apocalyptic and frightened," saying: "They have a vision of a dark, shadowy world which they can’t quite explain." It's a fascinating read. You can also check out Adam Curtis' latest blog post over at the BBC website, where he discusses the relatinship between the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and the Israeli hard-right political parties.
