Sean Lock: Lockipedia

Article by Karen Bradley | 29 Mar 2010

In 1993 David Baddiel and Rob Newman made history when they became the first comedy act to play Wembley. However, technically, the actual first act to perform in the arena was their support that evening, Sean Lock. Fast forward 17 years and Lock is one of the top UK comedians on stage, TV and radio.

Tonight’s show, Lockipedia, is an insight into how Lock sees the world. His routine is crammed full with a mixture of observations, anecdotes and a few intentional cheap gags; jumping between the different styles to keep his routine interesting. A true pro, Lock barely allows the laughter to stop before launching into another punch line.

Lock’s regular appearances on TV panel shows have made his bizarre observational humour legendary and tonight they range from grumpy rants to supreme silliness. A clear and animated delivery makes even the craziest observation accessible to the audience.

Lock delights the audience by inviting them to shout out things for him to explain. Despite the audience’s failure to grasp this concept, Lock maintains his flow. These facts may not technically be true, but tonight he is undoubtedly a comedy genius.
