Elton John back on his feet

Elton John is back in good health and "raring to go".

The 62-year-old singer was hospitalised last month with a serious e-coli infection, forcing him to cancel a string of US concerts. After nine days of intravenous antibiotics treatment and close monitoring by doctors, he is "out and about" and feeling good. But Elton is still unsure about what triggered the illness.

"It was something that I've never had before - a serious e-coli infection which I got from something I ate," he said. "It was horrible, but now I'm back and raring to go. I'm out and about and I'm good."

But the star is certain it wasn't something baked by his long-term partner David Furnish.

He laughed: "No, no, David doesn't cook!"

Elton's postponed Face 2 Face concert tour looks unlikely to continue. Just as Elton is feeling better, his touring partner Billy Joel has been struck down by a mystery illness.

Elton said: "I don't know what's wrong on with him. I heard he's sick. I have no idea what's going on with him."
