The Xcerts - Live At King Tut's

Posted by Ryan Drever, Tue 08 Dec 2009
**

The Xcerts' debut album In The Cold Wind We Smile seems to have struck a chord with critics and wide-eyed teens across the country; their energetic nuggets of catchy pop-rock proving hard to resist. It seems a little bit premature to be releasing a live album at this stage in the game, that being said, this record is more a celebration of a milestone in the band's career so far - selling out King Tut's Wah Wah Hut has long been considered an achievement. Overall, this eight-song set, primarily of cuts from the band's debut, sounds fairly strong - save for a few hisses and occassional vocal warbling. It's met with the kind of fevered response you'd hope for from an excitable home crowd (clapping, chanting, and singing with gusto) but though it might work as a treat for fans, beginners are advised to seek out the real thing.
