Balkanarama @ Studio 24, 18 Apr

Article by David McNamara | 09 Apr 2009

In the struggle to become the most interesting club night in Scotland, Balkanarama is rapidly proving that it has what it takes. The Balkan inspired night is becoming an established force within Scotland’s most respected venues and this month they bring their blend of music and visual art to Studio 24.

Entertainment is provided in the form of The Destroyers, a savage mob of goths wielding musical instruments. Expect nothing less than pure chaos from this 15 member (yes, 15 member) militia of deranged individuals specialising in eastern European folk music with a turbo gothic twist. Rest assured it will be a treat for the eyes and ears.

Support is provided the form of Tri Tachke and DJ Grandma Staflas who specialises in electro infused Balkan beats.

This night is a must for discerning clubbers searching for something a little bit different from their midnight excursion. After all, how many other nights offer swinging Balkan rhythms, beautiful belly dancers and a free glass of fruity brandy (rajika) to warm your soul? Exactly.

9pm- 3am, £7 before 11pm, £9 after
