Gemma Goggin: Double G

Article by Bernard O'Leary | 24 Aug 2011

Boobs! Amongst other things, they help to sell tickets and many acts have employed a "when in doubt, get 'em out" philosophy when the show isn't doing so well.

Gemma Goggin just talks about them in this lecturem, which is goodnatured fun, if a little flimsy at times. From the deeply unsexy evolution of the human breast to society's fetishisation of the things, with plenty of anecdotes about what life is like when you're lugging around a pair of double-G's, she keeps the pace brisk and the tone frank. At the end, we're all asked to measure our own chests, prompting quite a few men to wonder if their C-cups are pectorals or moobs.

Goggin is a funny lady and a charming performer. She works well with her audience and her brash honesty makes it all feel celebratory rather than tawdry. Nothing life-changing, but still bags of fun.
