Flawless @ The Pleasance

To sleep, perchance to dream...

Feature by Daph Karoulla | 10 Aug 2011

With dabs and dashes of humour mixing in with the choreography, Intergalactic Dream is a celebration of pop culture of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. If you don't enjoy The Mask (1994 Jim Carrey comedy), Michael Jackson (RIP 1950-2009) and The Matrix, please look away now.

As performers, Flawless have it all: dance skills, charm, humour, and  bodies to wow the ladies. As dancers, Flawless are quite innovative and intelligent. Their choreography is tightly tailored to the tunes, catching every single sound-effect. Furthermore, they throw down the breakdance 'blowups' (flips, power moves, or crowdpleasers), they can actually dance.

Flawless use their large crew to their advantage for ripples and waves. However, their clean-cut, synchronised choreography allows for a minimal margin of error, proving they are a well-trained, well-oiled dance machine.

Intergalactic Dream is structured like one of those Youtube videos about the 'evolution of dance'. Their team-work, skill and charisma backs up the hype. However, be warned: this show involves a fair amount of audience interaction, making use of PWGs - protective white gloves. Another hint: the hats are not just for decoration. Otherwise, enjoy!
