The Skinny Fringe Radio Hour

Feature by Rosamund West | 13 Aug 2012

This month The Skinny is taking to the world of radio, with a weekly show on Fresh Air presenting guests from across the Edinburgh Festivals as well as reviews and opinion from the magazine's expert array of section editors. The show launches this evening (Mon 13 Aug) and runs from 6-7pm. You can listen live here and the show will be on theskinny.co.uk and freshair.org.uk after broadcast.

For the first edition of The Skinny Radio Hour, host Annabel Cooper will be welcoming Comedy editor Bernard O'Leary into the studio to share his harrowing experiences of life as a Fringe reviewer as well as a few of his comedy picks. He'll be joined by Lach, legend of the New York antifolk scene, whose Antihoots blur the line between music, spoken word and comedy.

Following them will be artist Anthony Schrag, who is currently working as the Edinburgh Art Festival's Tourist in Residence. He's running a series of participatory tours throughout the month, encouraging audiences to engage with different aspects of the city of Edinburgh using techniques including parkour, football and drinking. You can see a full list of his events here

Author Alan Bissett will also be popping in to have a chat about his events at this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival. First up is tonight's The Big Time Sensuality Show, organised by Glasgow's literary night Words Per Minute as part of the free late night Unbound programme.

Playing us out will be the Eastend Cabaret, the award-winning musical comedy duo of Bernadette Byrne and Victor Victoria, currently appearing in the Underbelly.

Further shows will be on air at the same time, 6-7pm, on Mon 20 and Mon 27 Aug.

Update (6 September 2012): You can now listen to the show in podcast form here.
