Now in its 65th year, Bloomberg New Contemporaries is one of the UK's most important and highly-regarded arts initiatives. Throughout the year, New Contemporaries work with emerging artists, helping them to debut their work and connect with audiences, all culminating in their annual exhibition, New Contemporaries, which tours the country visiting prominent galleries in all the major cities.

Last year, over 1,400 artists applied to New Contemporaries, and saw their work judged by a panel of artists, critics and curators from across the spectrum of the visual arts. This year's judges include Glasgow-based performance artist Marvin Gaye Chetwynd, Berlin-based painter, sculptor and installation artist Enrico David, London-based interdisciplinary artist Goshka Macuga and Copenhagen-based Simon Starling, with new director Kirsty Ogg heading up the competition.

"As the UK's foremost annual arts initiative, New Contemporaries has consistently provided a critical platform for early stage artists, playing a central role in providing many with their first high profile show, and a launch pad for their careers," commented Ogg in a press release. "We are delighted to work with Marvin Gaye Chetwynd, Enrico David, Goshka Macuga and Simon Starling, all of whom have shaped the cultural landscape since graduating from UK art schools."

Artists wishing to submit to New Contemporaries must prepare 8 pieces of work – the process is open to graduates and final year students from any UK-based art school. Collaborative groups can also apply. Submissions must be accompanied by an administration fee of £25. For full details, and to enter, visit the New Contemporaries site.
