The centrepiece of the LeithLate programme is the festival's 'artcrawl' across more than 20 venues up and down Leith Walk on Thursday 23 June, with an opening night afterparty at the Hibernian Supporter’s Club featuring sets from Edinburgh trio Nice Church and hip-hop duo Carbs, aka Johnnie Common and James Scott of Conquering Animal Sound.

For the festival's first artist commission, Rabiya Choudhry has been commissioned by LeithLate to produce a festival banknote, printed at Out of the Blue's new riso print studio run by young people’s initiative #artcore. Describing her work in an interview with The Skinny, Choudhry said: "I’m always trying to bring things to life more with a sense of humour and make them look a bit better than they do." Elsewhere in the programme, the Out of the Blue Drill Hall hosts talks on gentrification, the value of art and "The Politics of Public Art" on Friday 24 June, LeithLate's Public Poetry project will see specially-commissioned work from Rachel McCrum (Rally and Broad), Michael Pedersen (Neu! Reekie!) and Harry Giles displayed on poster sites across Leith throughout June, and LeithLate's mural tours return on Saturday 25 June.

LeithLate 2016 exhibitions

Rhubaba writer-in-residence Daniella Watson presents a new exhibition entitled How to Survive on Land and Sea at the Arthur St gallery, "a collection of stories and ephemera relating to a little known artist collective called The Trajectorians", and The Dennis and Debbie Club (former Skinny Showcaser Dennis Reinmüller and Debbie Moody) present new multi-projection AV installation The Improvement of Invalid Youth at Gayfield Creative Spaces, revisiting the site's history with inspiration from an eponymous 1856 book.

Digital artist Ian Gouldstone presents new work 'Nearest Neighbours, Leith' at Pat's Chung Ying Chinese Supermarket on Leith Walk as part of a partnership between LeithLate and London contemporary arts festival Deptford X, and the Basement Art Club will host a Back Garden Biennale of specially created work in its back garden.
