Hidden Door are seeking proposals from visual artists, theatremakers and poets and spoken word performers for the Open Programme at the 2016 Festival, which takes place over nine days from 27 May-4 June 2016.

Organisers say the venue for next year's Hidden Door will be announced on 14 November; the 2015 edition of the festival took place at the derelict former bus depot at King's Stables Road off the Grassmarket. The 2014 event took place at the then-unused Market Street Vaults, which were later sold on to a property developer to be converted into retail units having been restored by a group of artists and volunteers.

Hidden Door plan to commission a total of 45 projects for next year's festival from public proposals, alongside an invited programme of music, film and arts. Successful applicants will receive budgets of up to £300 for their production, dependent on the project's overall funding applications being successful. As before, Hidden Door will be a team effort, with artists charged with organising the installation, set up and de-install of their projects, as well as helping the core team with some stewarding work.

The application deadline for Hidden Door 2016 proposals is Sunday 29 November.
