Looking for something original to do this Valentine's day? How about spending an evening with your loved one scaling an indoor climbing wall covered in pink boobs and purple willies? That’s what’s on offer in Liverpool this 14 February as Grope Mountain – a climbing wall with handgrips shaped like penises, vulvae, breasts and bums – comes to town.

The saucy wall started life as an installation at the Museum of Sex in New York as part of FUNLAND, an interactive exhibition about the pleasures and perils of an eroticised fairground, and will be installed at The Climbing Hangar on Birchall Street for Valentine’s Day.

“We’re delighted to be able to bring our erotic holds back to home turf to allow curious climbers and eroticists to engage in sport reimagined,” Ged MacDomhnaill, managing director of The Climbing Hangar Group, told The Liverpool ECHO. “Grope Mountain fuses sport with sensuality, the joy of physicality, the sensation of touch and the delight of the body in strong, elongated postures.”

Yes, nothing says romance quite like hauling your body up a wall using genitalia-shaped plastic handholds, according to Harry Parr, partner of Bompas & Parr, who created the wall for the Museum of Sex. “Gripping and tugging yourselves up with our sensual holds is this year’s perfect date for those looking to show off their strength, stamina and flexibility,” he says.
