Tuesday (1 Mar): The Glue Factory, Summerhall events

In Glasgow tonight, there's a brand new edition of Babaloose, with a specially-created bespoke artists' installation for the night. Now in its second iteration at The Glue Factory, it's been moved to a bigger room after the huge attendance last time. The night promises poetry and performance, though the last time there was a spectacular unplanned rap after one audience member decided a response was needed to some problematic 'lad poetry'. See what comes out tonight from 6.30pm until 11pm. Free to attend, no need to book

Over in Edinburgh, there are screenings and talks in tonight's Clips: An Evening with Gilbert and George at Summerhall. The famous (art-famous, at least) duo have attracted as much controversy as attention for their lively performance work. For tonight, there's a feature-length film titled The World of Gilbert and George, with discussion led by Daisy Silver, an MA Fine Art Student from Edinburgh University, and Professor David Hopkins from Glasgow University, who specialises in Dada and Surrealism. Also, it's free, with further free refreshments and popcorn and no prior knowledge is assumed. From 6-8pm, book here.

Wednesday: Ron Mueck discussion in Edinburgh

Wednesday sees a Cafe des Artistes event in Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. The subject is contemporary sculptor Ron Mueck, who makes 'realist sculptures on unconventional scales.' Discussion will be led by two Art History academics, with free refreshments. Find free tickets here.

Thursday: Of Hearts and Minds at The Glue Factory

It's off to the Glue Factory again this Thursday, with a multimedia installation by two artists – Scott Caruth and Winnie Herbstein. Together, they documented the Miltary Odyssey, a 'multi period military reenactment festival held annually in Maidstone, Kent'. Multiple wars and battles take place next to one another, and there's an attempt to address the complexities of their documentation in the show. The preview is on Thursday from 7pm; the show is open from 4-6 March from 12-5pm each day.

Friday: New exhibition at Tin Roof, Dundee

This Friday in Dundee, the Tin Roof gallery hosts Where our Minds Are now, an exhibition on the theme of women and gender parity. There's a bringing together of many mediums and visual approaches, with an emphasis on inclusivity. The opening is this Friday from 7pm, with a short talk from a guest speaker on 'the presence and representation of women in contemporary art.' The exhibition continues from 5-9 March 12-5pm.

Saturday: RSA New Contemporaries, BAS 8

This Saturday in Edinburgh, there's the first day of this year's RSA New Contemporaries exhibition. It brings together the RSA's choice selection of the degree shows last year, and is a good chance to see what's been happening in the lives of Fine Art graduates since last June. Entry is £4/2.

Also this Saturday, there is an event to accompany the British Art Show 8, titled Disimprovements Disimprovements Disimprovements Disimprovements. Art writer Maria Fusco is joined by poets and writers Sam Riviere, Daisy Lafarge and Iain Morrison, who will engage with BAS8 exhibitor Charlotte Prodger's multiscreen and audio installation Northern Dancer (Prodger's piece is one of our picks of BAS 8). Tickets are £3/2, available here. This event takes place near Inverleith House, in the Lecture Theatre at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Sunday: Crossing the Line screening at GFT

Glasgow Film Theatre screens Innocence of Memories this Sunday, as part of its Crossing the Line programme showcasing film work that lies somewhere between cinema and visual art. Released last year by director Grant Gee, the film works with Nobel Laureate for Literature Orhan Pamuk, and the imaginary space of The Museum of Innocence, a fictional institution in Istanbul. Sunday's screening is at 8.10pm, tickets are usual GFT prices.

Monday: Drying Green Collective at Broadcast

Starting the week hard next week, there's a show and sale by artist group Drying Green Collective on Monday night in music venue Broadcast in Glasgow. There's new art, a DIY print and zine sale and projected visuals. Starting at 7pm, it's free and open to all.
