Acid Bar

Acid Bar is the latest venture to take shape within the SWG3 ranch. Like all their previous expansions, it has gone very well indeed – can these guys do anything wrong?

During the week, the venue operates as a café/bar with coffee from The Steamie Coffee Roasters and a selection of baked treats to choose from, including Tantrum Doughnuts. When the weekend hits, it shapeshifts into a bustling restaurant, hosting a series of kitchen residencies with local chefs.

Southeast Asian fare was recently provided by Ka Pao, and the tenants for the festive season are none other than local successes Ox and Finch, whose history with SWG3 is a long one. They sold some of their first dishes under the name Street Food Cartel at SWG3 years before they had a place to call home and Michelin nods to their name.

Residency or no residency, the bar is a great place to spend some time, designed and constructed by artist Tessa Lynch, and stocked with well-chosen beers and spirits, with views overlooking the Galvanisers Yard. That's if you can take your eyes of the beautiful bar itself – painted a striking pink, the colour deepens gradually from the bar to the floor in an ombre effect.
