The Fog
An absolute stinker, even by teen horror standards.
The horror remake cycle continues apace with this dismal reworking of John Carpenter's original, as the residents of sleepy Antonio Bay are terrorised once again by a vengeful band of zombie sailors hiding in a fog bank. Appalling effects, a complete lack of tension and attempts at scares that rely solely on incredibly loud music stings all lead to a truly preposterous finale. Throw in bad actors - with expressions of such dead eyed boredom that you're not even sure some of them know they're in a movie - and you've got an absolute stinker, even by teen horror standards. Worse yet is the attempt to give the sailors a poignant backstory - if there's one minority group who shouldn't have to justify being bad, it's surely monsters. [Paul Greenwood]
