The National, Patti Smith, Bloc Party to play outdoor Glasgow gigs

Teenage Fanclub and Father John Misty are among the other big names set to play Summer Nights this year

The line-up for this year's Summer Nights gig series at the Kelvingrove Bandstand has been announced, and it's a cracker. The National play back-to-back shows on 6-7 Aug, while Bloc Party will play their classic Silent Alarm record in full on 9 Aug.

Other act set to perform at Kelvingrove Park across the series are seminal singer-songwriter and poet Patti Smith, American indie folk singer Father John Misty, and synth-pop veterans The Human League. It all kicks off on 26 Jul with a performance from iconic composer Burt Bacharach, while Hue & Cry will close out the programme with a full band set-up.

Heading into its sixth year, previous acts to play the Kelvingrove Park festival have included the likes of Fleet Foxes, Van Morrison, Pixies and Brian Wilson.
