The Lass O’Gowrie is a pub popular with the residents of Manchester for its selection of real ales and delicious home-cooked food. This iconic and historic pub was threatened with closure a couple of years ago but is now back and better than ever — and you’ll receive a warm welcome as soon as you step through the door. Behind the bar you’ll find an ever-changing selection of beers supplied by local microbreweries, and during the day you’ll find a menu of classic pub grub, including homemade pie and mash, burgers, hot pot, chilli and nachos, hot dogs, and a full English breakfast every morning. There are plenty of vegetarian options too. On a Sunday choose from four roast dinner options, served with all the trimmings — with two roasts for £12 you’d be a fool to miss out. The Lass also has a bustling entertainment calendar, with folk flocking to the open mic night every other Wednesday and their pub quiz every Thursday. Check out their artwork around the pub, featuring famous Mancunians, and borrow a book from one of the shelves in the back room. [Charlotte Davies]
