Paesano Pizza

After opening two years ago, Miller Street’s Paesano Pizza rapidly established itself as one of the city centre’s favourite joints. Priding itself on the quality of its authentic woodfired pizzas, the stylish restaurant was a lesson in no bullshit service. A menu of ten pizzas and a few sides, one top range Italian beer on tap and a couple of wine choices  – by keeping things simple, Paesano guaranteed you’d be sat down with a Naples-style slice of excellence and a cold glass of something good within no time at all. Given that the place regularly still has a queue crawling out the door onto the street even with its strict “no reservations” policy, this system is a total blessing.

Pizza is pretty much universally acknowledged as one of those good things you can’t have too much of, so naturally Paesano’s arrival onto Great Western Road has been met with some excitement. Taking up residence in the old banking building, the vast space is perfectly suited to their knack for filling out the room on a nightly basis. As an added bonus, the kitchen in the West End joint is open plan so you can watch decades of Italian craft in motion before a cheerful server speeds it onto the plate in front of you.

If the term “fast food” handn’t become so synonymous with junk food and mega-chains, it could have been the perfect term for Paesano – just like its city centre sister, it’s a lively, high-paced place ideal for a rapid-fire catch-up with friends while you devour some of the best slices in Scotland.
