Since setting up stalls in Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries and Gordon Lane, Julie's Street Kitchen has taken the city by storm with their innovative take on Malaysian street food. Need proof? Check out annual Food & Drink Survey, where you'll find that they've only gone and bagged themselves a coveted spot as one of the country's best on-the-go food stops.
With business booming, Julie's Street Kitchen is moving to the city's East End to open up their first ever Kopitiam (that's Malaysian for cafe), where they'll continue to serve up hawker stall food, as well as head chef Julie's take on some of favourite childhood dishes like Nasi Lemak and Char Kuay Teow. Julie's cooking was inspired by her mother's recipes and Malaysian heritage, so you can be sure that every dish will be packed with heart and soul, as well as flavour.
With new premises come new opportunities to integrate into the local community, and Julie aims to do just that, with the promise to open up doors and offer cooking classes to those looking to hone their skills or to learn about cooking Malaysian food from scratch. Doors should be opening March 2017, but until then you can still find Julie's Street Kitchen at various pop-ups and food festivals.
