Queen Margaret Union

Queen Margaret Union is one of Glasgow University’s two student unions. Situated in the heart of campus on University avenue, the QMU's three bars and impressive live music bill draws students and non-students alike. Upstairs, Jim's bar hosts a regular open mic night, live comedy and the legendary Big Wednesday Night Pub Quiz, whilst the Champions' bar specialises in live sport, pool tables and single malt. However, it is the largest bar, Qudos, on the ground floor that draws the biggest crowds. Popular Friday club night Cheesy Pop indulges your love of – you guessed it – cheesy 90s pop, and with vodka slush puppies at student prices you'll be breaking into that Steps' dance routines before you know it. At the cooler end of the spectrum, Nirvana and Garbage both performed here back in the 90s and this legacy of big names continues with Biffy Clyro, Franz Ferdinand and The Fratellis all taking to the stage in more recent years.
