Ashton Lane

Ashton Lane is the sort of place you always want to find on holiday: a lane bursting with so many bars and eateries that if you don't like the look of one place it's only a matter of seconds before you're in the next. The short cobbled street, festively decorated with a ceiling of fairy lights the year round, is located in the West End behind Glasgow University. Despite their close proximity, the businesses on Ashton Lane all have very different identities. Booze-wise, Brel boasts a great selection of European beers, Jinty McGinty's has one of the best beer gardens in the city and Nude offers an extensive list of tempting cocktails. And for food, The Ubiquitous Chip has won awards for its cuisine and Ramen Dayo is a local favourite. What brings the street together each year is the West End Festival in June, where the lane bustles from dawn till dusk with festival-ers... But it can be similarly as busy on a warm, weekend evening.
