For many, finding their zen can involve an arduous process of rearranging furniture, manipulating your body into seemingly impossible yoga poses or travelling across the world to sit in the incense-infused gardens of some unknown religious temple; for others, it's as simple as a belly full of good food.
If you're of the latter variety, you might want to try Wee Buddha on Jamaica Street. This hole-in-the-wall style bar may appear unassuming from the outside (and indeed, hard to spot, for Jamaica Street has a habit of tucking itself away from view), but don't let that put you off; good things, as the saying goes, come in small packages. The food menu offers an eclectic fusion of Scottish and Asian delights, and the drinks menu doesn't disappoint either.
For tapas-like dining, order yourself a rammy of 'wee hings' – plates which vary from pak choi and gyozas to the moreish haggis wontons. For something more substantial, opt for a 'bowls & chopsticks' combo, like traditional Singapore rice noodles, Japanese udon noodles or the signature Buddha curry. If it's going to be a team effort, head straight to the deconstructed pulled pork wraps and don't look back.
With a neat range of sharing options on hand and a nice mix of imported beers and cocktails, the team at Wee Buddha have certainly cracked the code for informal dining at its best. Happy bellies + happy vibes + no need for yoga = happy punters.
