Sharing its name with the noted writer, playwright and political exile, Victor Hugo, quite possibly, may offer some of the best sandwiches in the city. Located at Melville Terrace, this small, quirky little delicatessen is modelled, as its name might suggest, after those dreamy Parisian roadside cafes which we have all dreamed about at some point or another.

Granted, it doesn’t quite offer the sights and sounds of Paris, but it makes a decent fist at it. As I say, the sandwiches are to die for. The choice on offer is varied and exciting and they are all freshly prepared with quality ingredients by the very skilled staff on site.

The coffee, similarly, is delicious and if you’re in the mood for something sweet to accompany it, you won’t be disappointed. Also on offer is a litany of fresh, indulgent cakes and pastries as well as a smattering of fine cheeses, oils, spices and various other kitchen essentials to take away with you.

For such a small place, there’s a lot going on for sure but, you can rest assured, every last thing is delivered with class, elegance and quality. It can’t do anything about the grey skies but, if you’re in the mood for a bit of continental indulgence, few other places offer a better outlet.
