It's easy to see why Edinburgh folk are so keen to bag a table at Origano, and it's not just the food that's pleasing on the eye.

Housed in the former Victoria India Rubber Mill, the open plan restaurant may have had an attractive facelift in recent years but it still retains many of its original industrial features. The exposed brickwork on the walls and steel pillars tie in nicely with the key elements that go into pizza making: wood, fire and stone. The candlelit tables give the place an intimate vibe, reminiscent of both a traditional Italian cellar bar and a contemporary New York apartment. It's a lovely place to bring friends, but it's equally atmospheric if you're looking for a romantic nook.

And then there's the pizza. The glorious, glorious pizza, which has earned Origano its rep as one of the best places in town to grab a slice. Their wood-fired pizzas are available in a host of sizes and configurations, meaning that if you can't quite face a pie the size of a tractor wheel, you still don't have to share with your gluttonous friends and family. Better still, their deal with a number of Leith Walk boozers, where they'll bring you a pizza *in the pub* is the kind of genius we will always applaud.

Origano has proved mightily popular with The Skinny readers too. Every year, we host a Food and Drink Survey, where folk like yourself are given the chance to vote for your favourite bars, restaurants and everything-in-between shops.  In our 2018 Food and Drink Survey, Origano came up tops in the Best Pizza category, along with the likes of Civerinos and La Favorita.
