Loudons

Loudons on Fountainbridge has been open since 2011 and during that time, it has gained itself some serious street cred as one of the best places to head for a spot of brunch.

Though they have a range of tasty treats on offer, with bread and cakes baked fresh on site and coffee ground to order, Loudons are best known and loved for their breakfasts. The airy cafe, with its pale brick walls and blue tones, certainly makes for a very pleasant start to the da, and it's a neat place to watch world as the capital's residents emerge, bleary-eyed from their beds.

Dominating the breakfast menu is the Eggs Benedict, which you can jazz up with a range of belly-filling options, from hot smoked salmon to avocado, spiced crayfish and even a dod of Haggis, for those particularly patriotic patrons. The morning options don't stop there though, with hearty pancakes, french toast and full breakfast plates (veggie and non) all there to set you up for the day too.

Late to start the day? Fear not. Lunch is served from 12-3pm (4pm at weekends) and comes in all manner of sizes, from healthy soups, salads and gluten-free quiches to the more substantial burgers and pastas.

Loudons has certainly proved a popular spot, and our readers have not been shy in showing their love for the place. Loudons earned a spot in the Best Breakfast category in our 2018 Food & Drink Survey, and not one to let a good thing slide, they've only gone and done it again in 2019, along with the likes of Dishoom and The Roseleaf.
