The Voyage of Buck

Built in the former residence of William “Buck” Clarence, a noted philanthropist, adventurer and companion to Prince Albert Victor, The Voyage of Buck (no points for guessing what the name is in reference to) has plenty to sink your teeth into.

Tucked away in William Street, just off Shandwick Place, the pub offers a solid selection of constantly rotating beers, paired with an excellent selection of spirits and a generous smattering of interesting and expertly crafted cocktails.

The drinks menu is extensive, spanning, at time of writing, an impressive 25 pages, there or there about. Cocktails on the menu are organised around four key cities which Buck visited on his travels – Paris, Taipei, Havana and Cairo – with each section offering a handful of interesting cocktails inspired by their respective regions.

This proves and interesting concept and, indeed, The Voyage of Buck is concept heavy; furthermore, prices, admittedly, can be rather expensive in some cases, however the pub offers plenty in exchange for your cash. Bar staff are incedibly knowledgeable, the decor is pleasant and eclectic and the choices of drinks on offer are varied and very, very numerous. Sometimes it’s good to indulge and The Voyage of Buck offers the perfect setting in which to do so.
