The Beer Kitchen

The Beer Kitchen on Lothian Road is your one-stop-shop for quality beer, quality food and, er, more quality beer to take home with you! From the lovely people at Innis and Gunn, the unique selling point of heading here is its ‘growler station’. Much less frightening than it sounds, the Growler Station is the home of ‘growlers’, which are one or two litre capped glass bottles which you fill with a craft beer of your choice to take home (apparently, in the olden days, pails filled with beer used to make a kind of ‘growl’ when they were opened as the C02 was released, hence the name, growler.) The team at The Beer Kitchen are happy to advise on everything about craft beer and anything on draught, and you’re allowed to ‘try before you buy’, too. As well as the taking-home aspect, beer is enjoyed plentifully in The Beer Kitchen itself, with a menu much longer than your arm, and good food prepared throughout the day offering everything from hearty breakfasts to bar snacks.
