Manipulate / ECA Animation Showcase: Dog by Hermann Karlsson

The Skinny presents Dog (2005) by Hermann Karlsson, one in a series of selected works from Edinburgh College of Art's past graduates in the discipline of animation. A selection of some of the best of ECA's graduate animation work from the past 20 years will be screened at the 2014 Manipulate festival.

How best to commemorate the passing of man's best friend? A child buries his brother's dog in this vivid animated short from Hermann Karlsson. Born in Akureyri, Iceland, he did his undergraduate studies in fine arts at the Icelandic Academy of Arts. After graduating with a BA degree he worked as a motion graphics designer and storyboard artist as well as working as a fine artist and taking part in various exhibitions. In 2005 he moved to Edinburgh to do a masters course in animation at the Edinburgh College of Art, where he graduated with a MDes degree in 2006. He currently lives in Reykjavik, working as an animator and motion graphics designer at Sitrus.
