Lock 91

Housed in an old cottage, this beautifully restored building is now an alternative bar and lounge. Lock 91 is a bit of a “blink and you’ll miss it” bar, tucked away at the end of the row of bustling Deansgate bars. It doesn’t look too big at first glance, but it’s bigger on the inside. The 19th century cottage has a number of rooms across three floors that have been transformed into drinking dens, complete with church pews, leather sofas and quirky decor. Their canal side terrace provides a perfect location for a pint in the sun, and a great place for a bite to eat when they fire up the barbecue. Some of their rooms are also available to hire for private events, including their Jack Daniel’s Pool Room. The bar specialises in cocktails, but you won’t find any of the classics here (unless you ask very nicely) — instead you can try a range of original flavours, as well as plenty of cask ales, wines and spirits.
